Overview of the workshop on introduction, demo security solutions and protection from DDoS attacks
Cyberwar has been officially recognized and planned to cope with by many countries. DDOS attack is a part of cyberwar used by many countries for it is effective and its traces are easily … removed. Therefore, DDOS protection and security solutions in government and public finance sector are paid much attention to by many countries.
In the U.S, the White House has become tense after the Stuxnet worm’s escape. Stuxnet is a cyberweapon to delay the development of Iran’s nuclear program. In fact, the Stuxnet worm has removed nearly 1,000/5,000 centrifuges at the Natanz nuclear plant.
Cyberwar has also been mentioned by quite a lot of countries in the context that gun war is no longer a secret weapon with immediate effectiveness. Simply because every country is afraid of being told to be an invader, whereas cyberwar can attack immediately with in total secret.
In Vietnam, DDOS attacks are widely used for two reasons: These attacks take place secretly, are hard to detect early for prevention; particularly DDOS attacks can cripple the ability to meet the entire system.
Tinhvan Group and experts from Arbor Networks have presented a number of hypothetical situations and demo solutions to prevent DDOS attacks in front of representatives from the Government, ministries, sectors and IT professionals in the finance industry (General Department of Customs; Gemneral Department of Taxation; State Treasury; General Reserve and State Securities Commission; Ministry of Public Security; Ministry of Industry and Trade). These solutions have completely convinced attended guests by their optimal ability to prevent DDOS attacks.
In the evaluation of workshop’s results, Mr. Tran Nguyen Vu, Deputy Director of the Department of Informatics and Financial Statistics – Ministry of Finance said: DDOS protection and security solution of Arbor Networks is a very impressive solution in the current context of increased risk of system attacks. It is also considered as a prerequisite for Ministry of Finance – an agency in charge of public finance sector – to consider implementing these applications in the Treasury, Taxation and Customs systems, etc., a fertile ground for crimes to use this form of attack.
