With a complete set of nearly 300 textbooks from grades 1 to 12, the new generation Classbook will breathe life into lessons with illustrative clips and virtual experiments, allowing students to interact with real knowledge in a visual and engaging way.
The new generation Classbook (Classbook 2) is a collaborative product between Intel and the Vietnam Education Publishing House, designed to be compact and lightweight with many features to support learning and teaching.
Technology Upgrade
The design of Classbook 2 is not much different from other 8-inch tablets on the market. However, the highlight of this version is the thin bezel design combined with a body only about 8mm thick and a weight of just 305g, making it superior to the previous version.
The combination of a slim and lightweight design with curved edges on the back provides a comfortable feel even when used with one hand. The plastic shell still feels sturdy thanks to the metal back panel, offering good grip.
In terms of hardware configuration, Intel has equipped Classbook 2 with good computing performance using the dual-core Atom Clovertrail+ chip architecture at 1.6GHz, which is widely used by many mobile device manufacturers.
Classbook 2 has 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot that allows expansion up to 32GB when needed. This storage capacity is equivalent to about 1,600 regular e-books or 120 interactive multimedia books. As for the display, the IPS panel integrated into Classbook 2 ensures good display quality even at narrow viewing angles.
Battery performance evaluation of Classbook 2 shows a usage time of up to 8 hours with electronic textbook applications, internet access, or web browsing. This battery life is sufficient for a full school day for students.
Expanding Knowledge
With the main interface presented as a bookshelf, the centerpiece of Classbook 2 is a complete set of nearly 300 latest electronic textbooks, divided by grade from 1 to 12.
Classbook integrates multimedia content such as high-quality audio and images, illustrative video clips, or simulation applications and virtual experiments, making the knowledge in the books visual and lively, allowing users to easily interact while learning.
Surveys show that when learning with Classbook electronic textbooks, students can reduce the average learning time per lesson by at least 15 minutes compared to before, while retaining knowledge better.
Especially for English, features like automatic dictionary lookup and native pronunciation of words, sentences, and dialogues when touched help users practice speaking skills effectively. Additionally, lessons in the textbooks come with quiz content.
Students can choose to do these exercises in either test or practice mode to self-assess their understanding. The results are recorded, helping parents monitor their children's self-study.
In addition to textbooks, there are currently over 1,200 teacher's books, supplementary books, and reference books distributed online at prices up to 70% lower than their print counterparts; nearly 200 educational and entertainment applications; and especially a library of 5,000 sample lectures built on PowerPoint, selected from the Violet lecture source by Bach Kim Company. Users can easily purchase, download, and install these contents or applications onto their devices.
Not only contributing hardware technology, Intel also includes English educational content from the Intel Education program for English and science subjects in Classbook.
Furthermore, the Education Publishing House collaborates with other units to deliver valuable teaching and learning content on Classbook. A typical example is the teacher training program 'Shaping the way we teach English' adapted and produced by the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. English quiz applications compatible with grade levels and especially for exams are also jointly developed.
