Intel, in collaboration with Vietnam Education Publishing House, launched the Classbook 2 version, designed to be compact and lightweight with many features for teaching.
The highlight of Classbook 2 is its thin bezel design combined with a body only about 8 mm thick and a weight of just 305g. The plastic shell still feels sturdy thanks to a metal back panel that provides good grip.
The device provides an Internet access management mechanism that allows parents to control and guide appropriate usage for their children. Micro USB and micro HDMI connections enable Classbook 2 to connect with peripherals and display devices such as TVs, projectors, or interactive whiteboards, making it convenient for teachers to present prepared lesson content.
In terms of hardware configuration, Intel has equipped Classbook 2 with solid computing performance using the dual-core Atom chip with Clovertrail+ architecture at 1.6 GHz, which is widely used by many mobile device manufacturers. The device features 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot that allows expansion up to 32 GB when needed. This storage capacity is equivalent to about 1,600 regular e-books or 120 books with interactive multimedia data.
The integrated IPS panel on Classbook 2 ensures good display quality even at narrow viewing angles. The device offers a battery life of up to 8 hours with applications, Internet access, or information searching, sufficient for a full school day for students.
With the main interface presented as a bookshelf, the centerpiece of Classbook 2 is a complete set of nearly 300 latest electronic textbooks, categorized by grade from 1 to 12. Beyond simply digitizing traditional books, the electronic textbooks on Classbook incorporate multimedia content such as high-quality audio and images, illustrative video clips, simulation applications, and virtual experiments, making the knowledge in the books intuitive and vivid, allowing users to easily interact while learning.
With Classbook electronic textbooks, students can reduce the average study time per lesson by at least 15 minutes compared to before, while retaining knowledge better. Especially for English, features like automatic dictionary lookup and native pronunciation of words, sentences, and dialogues when touched help users practice speaking effectively. Additionally, lessons in the textbooks are accompanied by quiz content. Students can choose to do these exercises in either test or practice mode to self-assess their understanding. The recorded results also help parents monitor their children's self-study.
In addition to hardware technology contributions, Intel also integrated English educational content from the Intel Education program for English and science subjects. Furthermore, the teacher training program "Shaping the way we teach English" was adapted and produced by the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. English quiz applications compatible with grade levels, especially for exams, have also been developed in collaboration.
