Launch of the New Generation Classbook

On the morning of April 18, the Educational E-book Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with Intel Corporation and partners, successfully held the launch ceremony for “New Generation Classbook – Building a Foundation for Educational Innovation”.
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong, Chairman of the Vietnam Informatics Association Nguyen Long, Vice President of Intel Corporation Mr. Terry J. White, Counselor of the US Embassy, Dr. Do Tuan Minh, Vice Principal of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Representing Tinh Van Group were Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director Hoang To, Deputy General Director and Director of EDC Pham Thuc Truong Luong, along with members of the Executive Board of Tinh Van Group. The event was attended by nearly 50 press and television units and hundreds of guests.
The event was the result of a series of collaborative efforts among the parties to serve the educational innovation policy of the Education Development Strategy 2011-2020 of the Ministry of Education and Training, while also supporting the initiative accompanying the “Computers for Life” program initiated by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

In terms of content, the New Generation Classbook electronic textbook comes pre-installed with a full set of over 300 interactive and supplementary electronic textbooks following the standard curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Training. Throughout the device's usage period, users can update all reprints of these contents for free.
Not limited to the content of traditional textbooks, the Classbook electronic textbook also supports editing and integrating expanded multimedia content for lessons and provides features that allow students to interact with lesson content. A new feature of the New Generation Classbook is the integration of the “Shaping The Way We Teach English” curriculum from the University of Oregon, which has been Vietnamized and co-sponsored by the US Embassy in Vietnam and Project 2020. Additionally, the device is equipped with teacher training content at B1 and B2 levels, as well as English content for high school students from the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
In terms of technology, the Classbook electronic textbook is ready to connect and exploit the “E-book and Learning Resource Repository of Vietnam Education Publishing House” at www.classbook.vn, with thousands of textbooks, reference books, supplementary and advanced materials, and many learning applications and resources (lecture banks, teaching and learning support materials from reputable education experts). Furthermore, the Classbook electronic textbook is also ready to connect to an interactive classroom environment in a very simple and effective way.
The New Generation Classbook electronic textbook will use an Intel platform with a powerful dual-core Intel® Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage for data, integrated speakers and microphone, a battery lasting up to 8 hours, a microSD card slot for expansion, and the Android* operating system. The device features a high-quality 8.0-inch multi-touch screen with anti-glare IPS technology to maximize user eye comfort. This hinge design direction was carefully considered by Intel and the Education Publishing House so that students can use it as comfortably as ordinary paper textbooks.
